Beach Games Team Building Activities

Sometimes the simplest things require a surprising amount of skill. Take our Barcelona Beachfront Challenge for example. On the surface, it’s a straightforward, fun game with a beginning and an end and a bunch of entertaining challenges in between. While you’re having fun, however, you’re also making use of your creativity, ingenuity, language and communication skills. You need a good eye and the ability to work together to complete the teambuilding challenges.

Our team sets up “stations” along the beachfront, each one featuring a different Team Building challenge – fun tasks that require co-ordination and a bit of ingenuity to figure out, but no specific physical ability or fitness level, making this activity perfect for all kinds of groups. Challenges include “spider’s web”, “lift the bucket” and other amusing games that will definitely elicit more than a few laughs. (Please see the list of challenges below for a full description.) This would be a stuctured team building that all members would participate in at all times.  The afternoon will end with a 3 course meal, wine, beer and sodas at a beachfront location.

The activity involves a selection of challenges, which may include any of the following:

  • Spiders Web

The entire team starts on one side of a giant web and has to pass all of its members over to the other side, one by one, using each hole in the web only once, without ever touching the web. This requires planning and coordination, and some light, physical effort.

  • Bucket Lift

The challenge is to lift a bucket of water from one point to another without spilling the water, using the technique indicated by our staff. The technique requires the entire team to work together to lift the bucket by operating a special mechanism.

  • A to B

The team is provided with stepping stones, which can only be used by one person at a time, but there are fewer stones than people. The challenge lies in moving the entire team from one side of the “river” to the other. Requires planning and coordination.

  • Giant Skis

A simple challenge that demands a good deal of coordination – the entire team must step into our “giant skis” and figure out a way to coordinate their leg movements in order to move forward.

  • Herding Balls

Each person receives a “broom” which they use to herd several balls around a course. The balls must stay together – and they far outnumber the brooms. Requires team work and planning.

  • Knots

A challenge that involves the entire team forming a circle and creating a complicated web of “knots” with their hands. Once the “knots” are in place, the challenge lies in “untying” the “knots” and forming an open circle without the hands ever breaking contact! Takes quite a bit of advance planning and strategy.

  • Build a bridge

Within a set time limit and using the material we provide, each team must build a bridge strong enough for one member to pass from one side to the other.

  • Helium Stick

The team is given a light stick which they must balance on their thumbs. The thumbs of all the players must be in contact at all times with the stick. The team must then lower the stick to the ground, which entails some unexpected results. Get ready to be surprised!

  • Water Waiter

Team members take turns to fetch water on a tray, return to home base and fill a bucket within a set time limit. Easy, right? It would be if it weren’t for the obstacles along the way and the flippers and masks you’ll be wearing! A fun and simple race that’s a real crowd pleaser!

  • Blind Chain Gang

The whole team is blind-folded and their right legs are tied together like a chain of prisoners. They then have to find their way through our “maze” before time runs out. Requires memory, planning and coordination.

Besides putting your minds and creativity to work and getting a little exercise and fresh air, our Beachfront Challenge is a wonderful way of seeing one of Barcelona’s most charming areas.
